Glitchening
The plot began when a news post was created in June of 2018, written from the perspective of an Imp named Vyra, who claimed to have been trapped in the site's code and encouraged users to solve a riddle from a line of binary code written at the top of the post.
This first act was carried out over the course a few news posts with additional puzzles, where users continued to work out a series of passwords in order to free her.
Hello? Hello! Thank Apollo, I've finally got through! My name's Vyra. I'm a coding Imp; we work with the coders behind the scenes to make sure you guys are able to keep up a steady, constant connection to Lunaria.
In the second act of Vyra's Takeover, it is revealed that the events of the first act were part of a diabolical scheme. Freed by the users' help, she takes over the website and seizes control of staff accounts (evidenced by staff members posting on the forums in glitched text or binary code). Users then picked sides: whether they wished to support Vyra's reign, or oppose her. Contests were held under her takeover, including an art contest, a design contest, a writing contest, a crafts contest, a dress up contest, and several mini-games.
In the third and final act of Vyra's Takeover, a Plushie Waja designed in Apollo's likeness, with the help of the Wajas userbase, overrides the firewall Vyra had put in place to prevent them from taking back control of the site and Lunaria as a whole.
The Plushie proceeds to help free Apollo and Artemis, who confront and subdue Vyra in a battle. An argument breaks out over what should be done with her; Apollo suggests that they allow the players to decide Vyra's fate, and later, a poll is posted allowing players to take a vote.
“The more I think about it, though,” Apollo continues, “the more I feel the final choice shouldn't be down to us. It is the players who know her best. So I think it should be down to them. They may vote and decide what happens next.”
Five days later, a news post is created written by Apollo, who announces that due to the compassion of the Wajas userbase, Vyra will be allowed to reside in Lunaria for the time being.
The storyline is wrapped up when Terminal Nostalgia announces that "The Glitchening" has reached its end. In this post, Terminal Nostalgia gives credit to all of the staff involved in the event:
