Disclaimer: This is only a breeding guideline to breed Wajas together, NOT a necessity. Players are free to breed how they wish, however this guide will give tips on how to breed Wajas with stronger markings.

Method 1

Basics:
1. Make sure you have a pretty Waja with a small amount of markings (for this guide) and a love pear available. Is the Waja 20 days or older? Good. Now we will proceed to the next step.

2. Go to the Waja Search and look for a Waja that has similar markings to breed with your Waja. Remember! Check the owners rules and make sure you're not violating any by requesting the breeding. The rules can be found under the waja's picture, and sometimes in the cave description.

3. Check the lineage up to the grandparent (that is three gens up). No parents the same? Good. (This is to prevent inbreeding)

4. Use the color mixer tool on the site by clicking help - color mixer. Now find the texts of the two parents, and make sure the result is pretty. To do this, open another tab in the custom demo and see what the pup will look like. Remember to combine all the markings, and when you're done, and happy with it, click breed. A request has been sent to the owner.

5. Pups are born in 5 days. Enjoy!

Here is an example of a what a breeding might look like if you have done the above steps.

Mother-

Father-

Median pup-

If an Ancient Love Pear (ALP) was used, then the pups will be a close median pup of the parents' colors. If you use a regular love pear (LP), then the colors of the base and markings can range anywhere between the mother and father's colors.

Method 2 - Making profits

Another breeding method.

1. Grab a a waja you like. It's better to start with not many markings, but go wild, if you please.

2. Use the waja search under world - waja search for a similar waja. For this method, make sure you click "Selling - yes". For the rest of the criteria, select "all breeds", click "breeding - yes" and add the markings to the appropriate boxes. If they don't all fit, that's ok. To have better opacity and increase your profits, make them all equal to 100%.

3. When you find a waja you like, make sure it's very close to your waja marking-wise.

4. Check the wajas' mixed colors. To do this, have open 4 tabs on wajas. Make one the color mixer by going to help - color mixer, and the other tab the custom demo by going world - custom demo. The last 2 tabs should be your waja and the waja you want to purchase.

5. Put the markings on the custom demo in the female waja's layering. Now, in the color mixer, for each marking take the father and the mother's hex code and put them in the appropriate place. When this is done, add the middle color to the designated marking on the custom demo. Do this with all markings, coat, and eyes.

6. When you're all done with this, if you like the waja's combo pups, purchase it. Breed the two wajas together, and in 5 days, you will have a new litter. You can sell these for prices around similar wajas on the waja search, or you could open a thread on the forums asking what other users may think of it, and what they would pay.

7. Remember, if there are any pups you would like to keep, do so! They are yours!

Breeding in the markings

OK, this job is a toughie, and may take a while, so you'll need patience.

1. Get a Waja with your favorite marking. Make sure it's at 100, or this will not go as well for you. Now, you find a waja of the opposite gender on the Waja Search, this time, we want a markingless.

2. You know the drill, breed with it. When the pups come, don't be upset. They will be fades.

3. Age pear one of the pups, or wait until it's 20, and breed it with a waja with the marking you chose. Repeat step two with these wajas.

4. A few generations later, you'll have a perfect marked waja!

(I know you're saying "That's pointless" It's not. This is an example. Say you got an Aerial with 60% belly and it was a nice pretty one. You could make it even prettier by upping the opacity layer. Or if you got a markless waja, and didn't have the money to do a dye project, you breed in the markings)

Breeding out markings is as simple as breeding them in. You just get a waja with all the markings yours has and breed it with all of the markings but one.
Inbreeding- Noo!
Inbreeding is a kind if breeding where you breed puppies from the wajas parents or relatives. Yuck! Not many on wajas respect it, which is why you should always check both wajas lineages when breeding.

Selling Advice:
If you are trying to make money, you should consider which types of wajas are popular, and which are not.

There are many markings that are "overused". A great example is the "belly" marking. There are many, many wajas with this marking. So many that almost everyone has one, thus making them very difficult to sell.
Unfortunately, because they are so common, mates are easy to find.

Even IF a waja has a full 100% belly marking, it will still be nigh impossible to sell.

Try to bred wajas with less common markings and marking combos, and people will be more inclined to buy them (because they are different and refreshing).

Commonly over-bred markings

-The Wind/Stars combo

-The Belly/Cheetah combo, especially on arials and banes

-Cheetah by itself

-The Belly/Husky combo (see what I'm saying about the belly marking?) especially on normals

-The Belly/Ocelot combo

-Wind by itself

-Kitsune(comes from a dye) by itself

-Blaze(comes from a dye) by itself

-Heart Cape by itself

-Giraffe by itself

-Wajas with NO markings(i.e. markingless)

-The panda marking by itself on Africans or Normals

-Camo wajas (camo upper/camo lower)

Common Terms Used in Breeding
LQ: Litter Quantity. Can be increased by using Normal Pears. Litter Quantity increases the chance of how many pups are born in one litter (up to 4 per litter).

MG: Male Gene. Can be increased with male pears. MG increases the chance of males being born in the litter.

MU: Mutation. This can be increased by using Strange Pears. It increases the chances of mutations on pups.

In%: Inbred Percentage. Shows the % inbred of a Waja, up to their corresponding grandparents.

IBP: Instant Birth Pear. Fed to a pregnant Waja for an instant birth (no pregnant delay).

LP: Love Pear. Used to breed Wajas. Owner of the female supplies this.

ALP: Ancient Love Pear. Used to breed Wajas with the old breeding script to produce median pups.

MP: Male Pear. Increases male gene.

SP: Strange Pear. Increases mutation gene.

IP: Ice Pear. Decreases In%.

NP: Normal pear. Increases LQ.

Studs/ Studding: This is the term used for male wajas that are available for breeding. Most users call them Stud's or that they have wajas "Up for Studding". This is sometimes put in a user's name, like Sales- ex. 'Wajauser- STUDS!'

Reverse Breeding: Also known as RB's. This term refers to a female waja that is available for breeding. So, if you are using another user's RB's, this means that you are breeding your male to someone else's female, and they send you the pups once they are born.

Custom tokens, usually just called "Tokens," are used to create Custom Wajas. They are primarily purchased from the Token Shop with CWP, though they can also be purchased from other users via the Shop Search. There are three types of tokens for each breed (except Breedless): Silver, Gold, and Diamond. The color of the token determines how many markings/mutations the custom can be made with.

*Silver Token - 2 Markings/Mutations ~ 20 CWP
*Gold Token - 3 Markings/Mutations ~ 30 CWP
*Diamond Token - 4 Markings/Mutations ~ Diamond Tokens are only available at special releases.

Divine Tokens go on sale once a year on July 3rd at 9am waja time for 24 hours until July 4th at 9am Waja Time. Silver Divine tokens are 50CWP and Gold Divine tokens are 60CWP. They are limited to two per person and are not able to be used until after the sale has ended.

Bane Tokens go on sale once a year for the month of October as a special Halloween breed. Silver Bane tokens are 20CWP and Gold Bane tokens are 30CWP.

Remember, when creating a custom, each marking takes one spot, and each mutation takes one spot. So for a Diamond Token, you could have 2 markings and 2 mutations, 4 markings, 4 mutations, 3 markings and 1 mutation, or 3 mutations and 1 marking.

Using a Token
To create a custom waja using a token, first locate the token in your inventory. Click it and select "Create a Waja", then "Go to the Custom Maker". Here you will be presented with a screen similar to that of the Custom Demo (NOTE: it is a good idea to use the Custom Demo to plan out your design before getting to this step.) From here you can select the Gender, Eye Color, Base Color, and the markings/mutations and colors of those markings/mutations that you want the waja to have. The number of marking/mutation slots available will depend on what color Token you're using. Once you've chosen these, you can now press "Preview". If you are satisfied with the waja you've designed, you may now press "Create". DO NOT PRESS CREATE UNLESS YOU ARE SATISFIED WITH YOUR DESIGN. After you press Create, you cannot go back or edit the waja, and there are no refunds. Congratulations! Your new Gen 1 waja should now be in your cave.

Wajas are able to have a variety of features in any color of the rainbow. When making customs, you enter colors for the markings, mutations, base color, and eye color of your waja through hex codes. When dyeing Wajas, you enter the color of the dye marking with a hex code.

And, when breeding wajas, the colors of features on the offspring are determined by mixing the hex codes of the equivalent features on the parents. As a result, understanding hex codes and color mixing can greatly improve the results of your breedings.

What are Hex Codes?
For an in-depth explanation of Hex Codes, see: Hex Codes Explanation

Hex Codes are codes in the format of a pound sign(#) followed by six characters ranging from 0-9 and A-F. In Wajas, hex codes are used to define the colors of Wajas' markings, mutations, base color, and eye color.

Basic Hexes
#White = #FFFFFF
#Black = #000000
#Red = #FF0000
#Yellow = #FFFF00
#Green = #00FF00
#Blue = #0000FF
#Magenta = #FF00FF
#Turquoise = #0FF0F0

<br> Predicting
<br> Welcome to my puppy predicts tutorial. First, you need to get the Hexes of parents. Once you have them, go to colortools.net. There, there's a color combiner. Type in the base Hexes of both parents. Now, open the custom demo in a new tab and type in the medians hex code into the base coat color box. Now, go back to colortools.net and mix the first marking Colors of each parent. Type it into the box in the demo, along with the marking. Continue this until you've finished. Now, click preview, your puppy shows up. Of course, some pups can look exactly like one parent, or the shade of coat may vary a bit, but this is an idea if what you'll get.

<br>Color Mixing

It is important to note that in color mixing on Wajas, some thing are different than mixing paints. For example, breeding yellow and blue will not get you green, but a very ugly grey.

Color Mixer
The color mixer is used to determine the range in between two hex codes, or colors. This is accessed under the help tab. When using this, take one waja's hex code and another's. Put them in the corresponding slot, and you have a range of those colors.

Using this for pup predictions

When using this to predict your pups, have 4 tabs or windows of wajas open. You need the father, the mother, the custom demo, and the mixer. In the custom demo, put the markings in line for the mother's layering. Now, with each marking, put the father's hex code in one slot and the mother's in the other one. The middle is about where the pup's color will end up. When you have this put in the custom demo, go on to the next. Do this for all the markings, the eyes, and the coat, while putting this in the demo. When you're all done, the demo will have a preview of roughly where your pup will end up. Note: With love pears, the colors will vary more. With Ancient love pears, the colors will be more in the center of the range.

Color Mixing

<small>"Dynasty has challenged you to a game of Wajas & Wajas. He wants to see if you can guess the assorted colors he has used and the exact order those colors appear in. You have 20 tries to guess the answer and for each try he will tell you what you got right or what you got wrong... If you get the answer in one try you'll get a whopping 20k! But for each wrong guess he'll take 1k out of that winning pot. Think you have what it takes to out smart Dynasty? Hint: Colors can be repeated!" - site description for the Wajas & Wajas game.</small>

Wajas & Wajas is a guessing game where the goal is to figure out the colors of the 4 hidden Plushie wajas by process of elimination. It can be found in the games menu by clicking World, then Games. The game costs 1,000 WC per play and you start off with 20,000 WC in the winning pot. You will then be given 20 guesses, with each guess after the first one you make reducing your winnings by 1,000 WC. Unlike most of the other games, this game has no limit on how many times you can play per day.

The possible colors are Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, and Purple. Each color can appear multiple times or not at all, and order counts. On each guess you are given the opportunity to assign a color to each waja and press "Try this combination!". After this, Dynasty will inform you as to whether or not any of your guesses were correct or partially correct. Your past guesses and their results will stay on the screen for you to use in helping you figure out the correct combination.

Possible Responses:
*" No Wajas found" - None of the colors picked exist in the set. You can now eliminate that color as a possibility.
*" X Waja(s) found" - Indicates that X number of color choices are both the correct color and in the correct position.
*" X Waja(s) of the right color in the wrong position" - Indicates that one of the plushies is the correct color, but that its position is incorrect.
*" 4 Wajas found" - Congratulations! This means you win the game.

The Wajas & Wajas game was released on November 30 of 2009.

Fun Fact: The waja featured on the Wajas & Wajas game page is Dynasty, a rainbow colored male African who is actually waja #114 (currently belonging to the full mods Alera & Perididdle). Dynasty used to run the Pear Shop. His artwork for the Wajas & Wajas game is the same as was used in the Pear Shop, explaining why he has pears at his feet in the picture.

Tips
Blindly guessing is a bad policy for winning this game. The best way to get better is to keep in mind that it is a process of elimination game, and to just practice to get the hang of it. It's difficult to explain the strategy in pure text, but a basic one is as follows:

*First turn - Make all of the wajas Red and press try. If it says no wajas found, you can now eliminate red as a color. If it says "1/2/3" wajas found, you know there's that many red wajas in the sequence.
*Second turn - Remember whatever number of the first color Dynasty said were correct and try the next color. Check to see if any wajas have been found- if there is, you know that color is in the sequence.
*Repeat this until you've figured out which of the colors are involved in the sequence. At this point you should have it saying that all 4 wajas are either found or of the right color in the wrong position.
* Switch the color positions until you win the game. If you're having trouble, you can use one of the colors you eliminated as a possibility as a way to find out exactly where one of the correct colors should go by putting only one of the correct color and filling the other plushies with a color you know it can't be. This way, you can just keep moving the correct color until it says waja found.

Dark Wings: /* Roleplaying Basics */

Not everybody knows how to roleplay, so I've put together a guide on what it's all about and how to go about joining roleplays in the roleplay boards! This can apply to anywhere, not just Wajas.

Roleplaying Basics
Roleplaying (or 'RPing') isn't as hard as most people think it is, and the roleplaying boards really aren't that scary. To put it simply, roleplaying is writing a story with more than one person. When roleplaying, there are a few things to keep in mind to ensure that everybody is happy - remember, it isn't just about your enjoyment, it should be fun for everybody involved and it should definitely not feel like a chore.

- Be polite and courteous. Follow the rules that are provided by the board leader (which is usually what happens) and don't stray from the plot or 'troll'. Really, there's no point at all.

- Learn your acronyms and terms! There's a lot of weird ones involved with roleplaying, some I probably don't even know. The main ones you'll be likely to come across are:

*RP'r - Roleplayer

*PM - Personal/Private Message.

*GM - God-moding. This is something that most people detest, where you start to control everything around you and basically act like a 'god', like being in a fight but your character always manages to dodge hits. It's irritating and it makes the battleground unfair.

*PP - Powerplaying. This is similar to godmoding, so they're generally thrown in together in one rule. Powerplaying is controlling somebody else's character or other characters, like saying 'Fred walked into a room and instantly everybody's eyes were on him and they all thought he was amazing.'

*O&A - Open and Accepting. This simply means that the rp is not dead, and is still accepting new players.

*Dead - This means that the RPers in the RP are no longer posting, or the plot has become too dull, or the host is going on vacation etc. The basic idea is that the RP is no longer going -it's closed. Dead RPs generally do not reopen.

*OC - Original Character. This means that you have created the character you are using the rp yourself, not gotten it from a movie/ book/ other source. For example- if you were playing in a Powers roleplay, and used Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy but gave him control over water, he would still not be an OC, because even though you changed him a little you didn't create the character yourself. Some people create a different OC for every rp that they are in, and others have specific OCs that have the same personality/ appearance no matter what the rp, they just change them to fit the rp. (give them powers, wings, etc.) Rolplayers develop these OCs over time, and in this way can eventually create very realistic characters with strong personalities, and get better at roleplaying with these characters so their skill level improves. OCs are the property of their creator- you may NOT take anyone's OC and use it in another rp (unless you have gotten permission from the creator.)

*Charrie/Char - Short for "Character".

*Lit/ Semi-Lit - Literate/ Semi-literate. Depending on the creator of the rp, this can mean different things. They refer to the length of the post, quality of grammar and vocabulary, etc. required in the rp. Literate rps usually require at least a paragraph per post, though some may be two, five or more. Semi-lits usually just require no one-liners and proper spelling/ grammar. Some rps do not specify what type they are, but may mention these types of requirements in the rules. Others display what type they are in the name of the rp. (such as, Into the Darkness (Powers rp~ Semi-lit))

*Mary Sue and Gary Stu - I'll put these together as they are basically the same thing; perfect characters. Good looking, lots of money, friendly (in most cases) with a large social group and basically every talent you can imagine. They're usually classed as 'amazing and beautiful' with 'gorgeous singing voices'. There are other types of these characters- some are shy, but everyone loves them, or they might have strange attributes that no other characters have. For example, in a Percy Jackson rp, a Mary Sue/ Gary Stu might be the secret child of Kronos, but raised under Zeus. Hades thinks of them as their own child, and the two gods bicker over this character... you get the idea. Or, as another example, the character might have silver hair with multi coloured eyes that change depending on their mood, etc. In an Elemental rp, they would be the only on able to control the four elements... there are many possibilities. Many people find this extremely aggravating, and may ask you to change something about your character to add a fear or weakness. It isn't that they are trying to make your character 'worse'- its just that the rp can be ruined if someone makes a sue/stu and sticks them into the rp.

*Purple Prose - This is something you may not come across as often as the others. Purple prose is when you put way too much description into things and create posts that really don't need to be as long as they are. 'Her golden hair spun by moonlight fluttered gently in the warm, mid-summer breeze, her soft voice caressing his face like the gentle touch of an angel. She opened her dark red painted lips, slightly dried in the wind to speak, and uttered three words in a delicate, lilting voice: "Your breath smells."'

*OOC and IC/BIC - These are used quite a lot. OOC means out of character - these messages are being said by you, not your character. You should indicate when you are in and out of character so that people don't get confused what is roleplay and what is just a comment. IC or BIC means In Character or Back in Character. Example:

:::OOC; BRB guys, dinner time.

:::BIC; Fred walked to the canteen and ordered his lunch, waiting for Jess.

Note: Other ways to show something is OOC is to use double parentheses -

:::((Do you mind if my character goes blind?))
:::Katie picked up her bag and began walking back to the store.

-or to use a single square bracket.

:::[I'm sorry I haven't posted in a while- I've been busy!]
:::Donald laughed, and slung his arm around her shoulders.

Try not to use single brackets (hi) because these are sometimes used in the rp as part of the rp. Example:

:::Maria removed her silver bracelet (a gift from her father) and placed it on the counter.

- Try to loosen up and have fun. Don't get super angry with somebody because they made a typo or because their character isn't quite up to scratch. It's still a game, above all else, so don't let it consume you and remember: Haters gonna hate.

I believe that's covered them all, so let's get on to the actual act of roleplaying.
To start with, it's a good idea to practice writing first and get down the basics of grammar - learn your homophones and your 'their, they're and there' words. It sounds stupid, yeah, but it'll help you get taken a lot more seriously and you'll find it easier to get along with other roleplayers. Chatspeak and such is frowned upon quite a lot in almost any roleplays, so I would just avoid it completely, in and out of character.

Genres
Now that we've got that down, we'll talk about genres. A genre is basically a type of roleplay, like you get genres with books and films. It typically defines what type of setting the roleplay can have, as well as the kind of characters that can participate.
The main ones you'll see are:

*Medieval - in the olden times.
*Fantasy - What it says on the tin. Anything goes, unicorns, dragons...yeah.
*Modern - Present times.
*Futuristic - in the future.
*Sci-fi - Science Fiction.
*Horror
*Romance
*Superpower/ Powers - May be set in modern time, the charries have powers. (control over fire, can read thoughts, etc.)

You won't usually see things like comedy as they are just attributes TO the roleplay. You don't usually get a whole roleplay based on comedy, but it is possible.
There are also Fandoms. Fandoms are where you roleplay characters from a book, tv show, movie, game or even a theater show.
Common ones you'll see around are anime, manga, Warrior Cats, Kingdom Hearts, Doctor Who, Harry Potter ; if it has a decent fan base, you'll probably find it being roleplayed.
There's also Bandom, which is less often seen, which is roleplaying real life bands like Green Day or Tokio Hotel, to name some common ones roleplayed.

When joining an RP, make sure your character fits the genre. Your cyborg character probably won't be allowed in a medieval roleplay, for example, nor is your wolf character likely to fit in with a High school roleplay.

Character
The next thing you'll need is a character to roleplay with. Now, we're on Wajas, so in this example we'll assume we're doing a wolf roleplay. Creating a character is very simple in theory but it can get quite complex when you start throwing in character traits, but I'll use a simple example. This first example is in a profile form, but most people will require a paragraph intro as well, which I'll give you an example of next.

:::Name: Winter

:::Age: 8 years

:::Gender: Male

:::Appearance: Winter has a a pure silver coat with a sprinkling of white across it, making it look as if there's always snow on his fur. His eyes are chestnut brown and clear despite his age. There a few visible scars on his body, but he is in good health. His limbs and tail are longer than your average wolf, making him a little taller than most. He also still has quite a bit of muscle which gives him an intimidating appearance.

:::Personality: Winter is stubborn and easy to anger. He dislikes younger wolves (whom he views as incompetent and naive) and isn't afraid to snap at them or even go so far as to pin them if they push him far enough. He's a strong-headed hunter and likes to only have one objective at any time. Though hard to get along with, Winter is wise for his years.

It's simple, but effective. It lets you know enough about Winter without giving too much information about what he likes and dislikes or his past. The past is fine to include in short term roleplays but with long term (roleplays lasting longer than a day or so) it usually is more fun to find out the past through talking.

A paragraph intro is harder but more rewarding to write and read from other people.

:::Winter stood outside of one of the female's burrows, listening to the snuffles and whimpers of the pups lying inside(probably fighting over who deserved their mother's attention most). He sat down on his haunches and licked his lips, showing off his sharp and dangerous looking teeth, still slightly red along with his muzzle from the kill they had taken down earlier. He was alert and protective, his ears twitching to listen to the signs of the forest while clocking what was going on in the burrow at the same time, constantly listening and smelling to sense a change in the area.

:::He heard a rustling noise from a bush and stood up, raising his hackles and baring his teeth at the apparent intruder. The smell was slightly familiar but outweighed by something new and intrusive, pulling up a snarl from his throat.

:::"Calm down, Winter. It's just me. I was talking to the other pack, it's true, the forest is being destroyed as we speak. We NEED to move." the female told him and Winter's ears flicked back in distaste as he heard the news, but he lowered his hackles.

:::"This is bad. We can't move the pups, they're too young..."

:::"I know." she whispered in reply, lowering her head to the older and wiser wolf in front of her. "What can we do?"

See? It isn't really hard once you get going. Joining a board is simple as well - just read over the rules and ask! If you like it, you'll soon fall into the grove of roleplaying.

Warning: I don't take any responsibility for the addiction to roleplaying that may come from attempting anything said in this article. Side effects may include: Over the top boredom, roleplaying cravings, food cravings and the desire to try and fly once you've created a flying character.

Things to Avoid
One-liners
In a majority of roleplays, people who RP, or RPers, as they are called, like to get involved in the storyline. Avoid posting one-liners, or responses that are only one line of text. Do you know how hard it is for other RPers to respond thoroughly with the inadequate information you have just supplied?

One-liner: Zack nodded and said, "I like the plan."

More Detail: Zack nodded slowly, realizing the capabilities of such an odd plan. As Cloud continued to explain, Zack listened carefully as to not miss a step. He scratched the back of his neck, saying, "That makes sense. It's weird, but I think we could pull it off if we had enough manpower..." The raven haired SOLDIER's blue eyes gleamed thoughtfully, a new idea taking form in his mind. After Cloud had finished outlining his version of the plan, Zack began to elaborate on his suggestion.

Wolfspeak/Horsespeak
Unless you are actually in a Wolf based RP that advocates Wolfspeak, do not use Wolfspeak because other people do not understand it, and many RPers find it awkward and unfitting. Examples of this include referring to body parts with different, more 'posh' words, like orbs for eyes or pillars and columns for legs, and in the case of Horsespeak, likening a horse to a machine.

Purple Prose
As explained above, using Purple Prose is over-stylizing your writing, adding in too much fluff and detail.
It looks pretty, but in roleplaying not every post has to flow like poetry. You can imagine that after a few pages with every single post reading like that it would get irritating, as half (or more) of the post you read through is pointless words. Keep your posts concisely written, but do not be afraid to add a reasonable amount of detail and elaboration where necessary.

Mary Sue/Gary Stu
Also as explained above, a Mary Sue or Gary Stu is a perfect character, and is one of the worst mistakes to make when developing a RP character. No one wants to interact with a character who is perfect or overly, overly cliche. Remember, faults make a character more believable and interesting. Try to veer away from having your character fall under too many categories of this list:

*Orphaned/Doesn't have parents/Was adopted

*Has a traumatic past that haunts him/her

*Is a really, really good fighter/Never loses in a fight

*Eats junk food but remains ever skinny

*Sings well/Is famous

*Is highly attractive/Has lots of admirers

*Rich but gives away lots of money/Doesn't care about money

*Consider her/his beauty/talent/skill/etc. to be a curse

*Unusually accomplished for his/her age/species

There are, of course, lots of characteristics you should not combine lest you create a Mary Sue. The above list just has major examples of what people consider, when combined, traits of a perfect character. One or two of the above are pretty applicable in a normal RP character, but if your character has three or more of the listed qualities, you may want to review your character.

OnexOnes
Onexones, or one on ones, 1x1s, etc. are roleplays done between two people over a private messaging system. They are NOT held on the main boards. Most people do them over wajas PMs, but others choose to use email or AIM. OnexOnes are popular because it means that the rp moves faster, there is more interaction between characters, and romance is easier.

Terms
m/f- this means that one of the characters in the onexone is male, the other female.

m/m- MalexMale. Also known as yaoi, boys love, etc, this means that both characters are male. m/m rps always have romance between the two characters.

f/f- FemalexFemale The most uncommon pairing in onexones, it is almost impossible to find people who want to rp it. This means that both characters are female, and romance is also involved between the two.

Note- m/m and f/f are also called slash. This is a general term and can apply to either.

Limits- limits means what the other rp'r is willing to rp. The general categories for this is swearing- what should be starred out; violence- how much you should describe about the blood and gore scenes; and romance- how far the characters can go before the scene should be blacked out.

This is used because in private rps, as long as they aren't in the forums, are not limited to the site's rules of Pg13. In general, onexone rprs have more limits on romance, and there tends to be three categories- Those who have limits on everything, so cussing must be starred out, violence to a minimum and romance to Pg13 (this is not very common); Those who have no limits on cussing or violence, but Pg13 on romance (this is common); and no limits. (this is also common).

Other Things to Remember
#ALWAYS follow the forum rules when roleplaying in the Roleplay forum.
#You are not allowed to post images on the roleplaying forums. Due to rampant art theft, images are no longer allowed on the RP forums. Failing to follow the forum rules and the no-images rule on the RP forums can result in your RP getting locked and you being given a warning (or worse, for repeat offenders) from a moderator.
#Respect the wishes and limits of others. If you want to RP with someone and that person says they don't want to do any romance, or violence, or whatever, RESPECT THAT and don't just do it anyway or try to make them/convince them to change their mind.
#DO NOT send out PMs to random players asking them to RP - This is considered unsolicited spam and possibly harassment and you can be reported for it.

Note: Other ways to show something is OOC is to use double parentheses -

:::((Do you mind if my character goes blind?))
:::Katie picked up her bag and began walking back to the store.

-or to use a single square bracket.

:::[I'm sorry I haven't posted in a while- I've been busy!]

:::Name: Winter

:::Age: 8 years

:::Gender: Male

Dark Wings:

OC - Original Character.

Lit/ Semi-Lit - Literate/ Semi-literate.

Example:

:::OOC; BRB guys, dinner time.

:::[I'm sorry I haven't posted in a while- I've been busy!]

*Modern - Present times.
*Futuristic - in the future.
*Sci-fi - Science Fiction.
*Horror
*Romance
:::Gender: Male

Dark Wings:

Not everybody knows how to roleplay, so I've put together a guide on what it's all about and how to go about joining roleplays in the roleplay boards! This can apply to anywhere, not just Wajas.

- Be polite and curteous.

PM - Personal Messages

GM - God-moding. This is something that most people detest, where you start to control everything around you and basically act like a 'god', like being in a fight but your character always manages to dodge hits. It's irritating and it makes the battleground unfair.

PP Powerplaying. This is similar to godmoding, so they're generally thrown in together in one rule. Powerplaying is controlling somebody elses character or other characters, like saying 'Fred walked into a room and instantly everybody's eyes were on him and they all thought he was amazing.'

O&A Open and Accepting. This simply means that the rp is not dead, and is still accepting new players.

Dead This means that the rprs in the rp are no longer posting, or the plot has become too dull, or the host is going on vacation etc. The basic idea is that the rp is no longer going- closed. Dead rps generally do not reopen.

Charrie Simply a short form for character.

Mary Sue and Gary Stu I'll put these together as they are basically the same thing, perfect characters.

Purple Prose This is something you may not come across as often as the others.

OOC and BIC These are used quite a lot. OOC means out of character - you should indicate when you are in and out of character so that people don't get confused what is roleplay and what is just a comment. BIC means back in character, so...
ooc; I just ate chicken.

bic; Fred walked to the canteen and ordered his lunch, waiting for Jess.

Note: Other ways to show something is OOC is to use double brackets-

((Do you mind if my character goes blind?))
Katie walked back to the store.

-or to use a single square bracket.

[I'm sorry I haven't posted in a while- I've been busy!]
Donald laughed, and slung his arm around her shoulders.

Try not to use single brackets (hi) because these are sometimes used in the rp as part of the rp, such as,

To start with, it's a good idea to practise writing first and get down the basics of grammar - learn your homophones and your 'their, they're and there' words. It sounds stupid, yeah, but it'll help you get taken a lot more seriously and you'll find it easier to get along with other roleplayers. Chatspeaking and such are frowned upon quite a lot in almost any roleplays, so I would just avoid it completely, in and out of character.

Genres
Now that we've got that down, we'll talk about genres. A genre is basically a type of roleplay, like you get genres with books and films.
The main ones you'll see are:

Medieval - in the olden times.
Fantasy - What it says on the tin. Anything goes, unicorns, dragons...yeah.
Modern - Present times.
Futuristic - in the future.
Sci-fi - Science Fiction.
Horror
Romance

You won't usually see things like comedy as they are just attributes TO the roleplay. You don't usually get a whole roleplay based on comedy, but it is possible.
There are also Fandoms. Fandoms is where you roleplay characters from a book, tv show, movie, game or even a theatre show.
Common ones you'll see around are anime, manga, Warrior Cats, Kingdom Hearts, Doctor Who, anything along the lines of that, you'll probably find it being roleplayed.
There's also Bandom, which is less often seen, which is roleplaying real life bands like Green Day or Tokio Hotel, to name some common ones roleplayed.

Character

The next thing you'll need is a character to roleplay with. Now, we're on Wajas, so we'll assume we're doing a wolf roleplay here. Creating a character is very simple in theory but it can get quite complex when you start throwing in character traits, but I'll use a simple example.

I'll do a small example of it in a profile form, but most people will require a paragraph intro as well, which I'll give you an example of next.

Name: Winter

Age: 8

Gender: Male

Looks: Large and dominating, Winter has a grey covered coat with a sprinkling of white, which is where he got his name as his coat resembles the snow on the winter ground. He has a longer tail than most wolves and his limbs are slightly elongated too, making him look gangly. He has quite a lot of muscle though so despite being gangly he still has quite a harsh prescence.

Personality: Winter is stubborn and easy to anger. He dislikes younger and imcompetent wolves and isn't afraid to snap at them or even go so far as to pin them if they're doing enough to annoy him. He's a strong-headed hunter and likes to only have one objective at any time.

Winter stood outside of one of the female's burrows, listening to the snuffles and whimpers of the pups lying inside, probably fighting over who deserved their mother's attention most.

He heard a rustling noise from a bush and stood up, raising his hackles and baring his teeth at the apparent intruder. The smell was slightly familiar but outweighed by something new and intrusive, pulling up a snarl from his throat.

"Calm down, Winter. It's just me. I was talking to the other pack, it's true, the forest is being destroyed as we speak. We NEED to move." the female told him and Winter's ears flicked back in distaste as he heard the news, but he lowered his hackles.

"This is bad. We can't move the pups, they're too young..."

"I know." she whispered in reply, lowering her head to the older and wiser wolf in front of her.

Try to veer away from having your character fall under too many categories of this list:

-Orphaned/Doesn't have parents/Was adopted

-Has a traumatic past that haunts him/her

-Is a really, really good fighter/Never loses in a fight

-Eats junk food but remains ever skinny

-Sings well/Is famous

-Is highly attractive/Has lots of admirers

-Rich but gives away lots of money/Doesn't care about money

-Consider her/his beauty/talent/skill/etc. to be a curse

-Unusually accomplished for his/her age/species

Most, if not all, onexones include romance.

Terms
m/f- this means that one of the characters in the onexone is male, the other female.

m/m- MalexMale.

"I know." she whispered in reply, lowering her head to the older and wiser wolf in front of her.

Try to veer away from having your character fall under too many categories of this list:

-Orphaned/Doesn't have parents/Was adopted

-Has a traumatic past that haunts him/her

-Is a really, really good fighter/Never loses in a fight

-Eats junk food but remains ever skinny

-Sings well/Is famous

-Is highly attractive/Has lots of admirers

-Rich but gives away lots of money/Doesn't care about money

-Consider her/his beauty/talent/skill/etc. to be a curse

-Unusually accomplished for his/her age/species

There are, of course, lots of characteristics you should not combine lest you create a Mary Sue. The above list just has major examples of what people consider, when combined, traits of a perfect character. One or two of the above are pretty applicable in a normal RP character, but if your character has three or more of the listed qualities, you may want to review your character.

Dark Wings:

Not everybody knows how to roleplay, so I've put together a guide on what it's all about and how to go about joining roleplays in the roleplay boards! This can apply to anywhere, not just Wajas.

- Be polite and curteous.

PM - Personal Messages

GM - God-moding. This is something that most people detest, where you start to control everything around you and basically act like a 'god', like being in a fight but your character always manages to dodge hits. It's irritating and it makes the battleground unfair.

PP Powerplaying. This is similar to godmoding, so they're generally thrown in together in one rule. Powerplaying is controlling somebody elses character or other characters, like saying 'Fred walked into a room and instantly everybody's eyes were on him and they all thought he was amazing.'

Mary Sue and Gary Stu I'll put these together as they are basically the same thing, perfect characters. Good looking, lots of money, friendly (in most cases) with a large social group and basically every talent you can imagine. They're usually classed as 'amazing and beautiful' with 'gorgeous singing voices'.

Purple Prose This is something you may not come across as often as the others. Purple prose is when you put way too much description into things and create posts that really don't need to be as long as they are. 'Her golden hair spun by moonlight fluttered gently in the warm summer breeze, her soft voice caressing his face like the gentle touch of an angel. She opened her dark red painted lips to speak and uttered three words: "Your breath smells."'

Winter stood outside of one of the female's burrows, listening to the snuffles and whimpers of the pups lying inside, probably fighting over who deserved their mother's attention most.

Dark Wings:

Markings are the patterns wajas have on their fur coat, put their by the user, or inherited when bred. They have a specified color, either determined when bred or by the user when the custom was created. There are about 60 markings in total, and a waja can have as many of those markings as the owner wishes. Some markings are available when making a custom waja, while some are only available as a dye, or a marking added at any time. There are a few markings that are both dyes and regular markings, but a vast majority are one or the other. These markings have a percentage, and the closer it is to 100, the more visible it is. 0 is the least, 100 the best.

To obtain markings, a waja must have been created or bred with them, been dyed, or eaten a Marking Pear. When a custom waja is created, depending on the token, the user will be able to add a certain amount of markings in a certain color. When two wajas breed, say the custom pair just created, the breeding script will determine the percentage of visibility and the color. Another way to obtain markings is by feeding your waja a marking pear. When a waja is fed said pear, a randomly determined marking will be set on the waja with a randomly determined color, with a random percent of visibility. WARNING: Marking pears are irreversible.

Often, users will have contests or games where they take a waja with faded markings, and try to breed it with other wajas so the offspring will have 100% markings. Users will also feed a waja many marking pears, giving the waja all the markings, or as many as the user pleases. These are called paintballs, pearballs, and various other nicknames regarding the process.
