Word Wizard

Word Wizard is a simple word guessing game, quite similar to Hangman. Each day you can play 4 times for free, then an additional 8 times for 500 WC per play for a maximum of 12 plays per day.

Each game you are presented with a number of blanks equal to the number of letters in the word you're trying to guess, as well as a general category into which the word fits. The goal is to figure out what the word is by guessing letters (done by clicking the letters in the boxes under the blanks). You start with a winning pot of 3,000 WC times the number of letters in the word (ex: "Red" = 9,000 WC, "Hippopotamus" = 36,000 WC, etc.). Each time you guess a letter that exists in the word, the blanks that contain that letter will be filled. When you guess a letter that is not present in the word, you will receive the message saying that the letter was not found and 1,000 WC will be subtracted from the winning pot. Completing the word without guessing a single wrong letter will win you the full starting winning pot amount for that word.

Categories

• Animals - commonly known animals, such as Parakeet, Gazelle, Beaver, Hippopotamus etc. (NOTE: Despite being a fictional animal, Waja is a word in this category.)
• Crayon Colors - the names of crayon colors. These can be simple (ex: Red, Green, Blue) or more complicated (ex: Azure, Carnation, Periwinkle)
• Food and Drink - Can be prepared foods/drinks (ex: Milkshake, Chowder, Hamburger) or raw foods (Potato, Strawberry, Mushroom)
• Materials - Includes words such as Cellophane, Concrete, Iron, and Fur.
• Action Words - Various verbs, such as Rest, Swimming, and Shimmer.
• Countries - The names of countries of the world, such as Cuba, India, and Japan.

Tips

• Don't just guess at random! More on this below.
• The words that appear in this game are from a set list. The list of all possible words can be found on the Word Wizard Word List page.
• Your first few guesses should be vowels (A, E, I, O, U) as every word in the English language contains a vowel of some kind. Keep guessing vowels until you have one or two in your word.
• Your next guesses should be common consonants, such as M, N, T, and P.
• Once you have a fair foundation of a few letters you should begin thinking of words that would match them and fit in the category listed.

Possible Glitches

Misspellings

A few of the words in Word Wizard are misspelled. These include:

• omlet should be omelet
• Belguim should be Belgium

Previous Versions

• Originally, each round was worth a maximum of 10,000 WC and a minimum of 3,000 WC (if you finished the word with 7 missed guesses) regardless of word length.

• "Lollipop" was originally spelled as "Lollypop"

• After a server upgrade in 2015, there was a glitch in which winning a game of Word Wizard would actually deduct the amount of WC won from the player's account instead of adding it, even displaying the winning message with a negative number (ex: "You guessed all the letters! You won $-5,000 WC"). This glitch was later fixed that same year.
