Mutation Gene, more commonly known as MU, is a stat that determines the likelihood of the waja's pups inheriting the mutations of their parents. However, it does not cause random mutations (i.e., mutations that neither parent has) to pop up. MU is located on a wajas page in the same area as the other breeding stats, MG, LQ, and IN%.
Mutation inheritance and MU's exact effect on it is not perfectly understood. The general idea is that the higher the MU, the higher the chance the pups will be born with a mutation. It is also widely believed that you must raise the MU of both parents (even if the other parent doesn't show or carry any mutations) in order to get the best chance of getting pups to show the mutation.
MU, like all stats, is inherited by the waja's pups. The MU of the pups will be roughly the same as the lowest of the parent's MU, with some variation.
Increasing MU
You can raise the MU of a Waja 1 to 5 points at a time by feeding it Strange Pears. You can also raise it by 1 point at a time by feeding the waja Green Candy. There is currently no way to lower a waja's MU
Tips
Most players give their customs an MU of at least 50 if the custom or its mate(s) have a mutation, but it's really dependent on how often the owner wants pups to be born with a mutation that isn't shared between the parents. Customs without mutations generally do not get their MU raised at all.
