Dyes are items used to place a new marking on a waja, and can be used on any waja at any time. The name of the dye refers to the name of the marking it adds. Restockable dyes are available in the Dye Shop. Dyes that do not restock in the Dye Shop are called Non-shop Dyes or Out Of Shop Dyes (OOS Dyes), and are re-released occasionally in the CWP shop but otherwise must be obtained through the Shop Search. Once added, a dye can never be completely removed (though you can re-dye the same marking to change the color or opacity of the marking.)
Not all markings are available as dyes. It is worth learning what markings are available as dyes, as they will assist you when trying to find mates for wajas and also when designing wajas in the Custom Demo.
Some markings are available as both token markings and dye markings.

Applying a Dye
To apply a dye to a waja, first click on the dye in your inventory and select "Use". You will be prompted to choose the waja you want to use the dye on. Select the waja you want and you will be presented with a page similar to the custom demo or custom creation page. Here you will choose the hex color you want the dye to be (it defaults to FFFFFF white), the strength/opacity you want it to be (it defaults to 100%), and the layer you want the dye marking to be placed on. At any time you can press "Preview" to see what the waja will look like once the dye is applied at the current layer/strength/color. Once you're satisfied, press "Create" and the waja will be dyed.
Dye markings applied to an already pregnant waja will not affect the pups she is pregnant with.
Note: When using a dye marking, the layer order is actually from the bottom up. Thus, if you place a marking at the top of the list it will be the first marking applied to the Waja. Subsequent markings will be layered on top of it. Adding a marking to the very top of the list will actually set the marking on the very bottom, with all other markings on top. Adding a marking to the very bottom of the list will set the marking on the very top above all other markings.
Once applied, Dye Markings behave exactly the same as any other marking and pass on to pups in the same way.
Shop Dyes
The Dye Shop is found under the Shops link in the World menu, and restocks at :02, :17, :32 and :47 past the hour (except between 1am-2am wajas time when there are no restocks). This is where many dyes can be bought, though there are also many dyes that are not available here. Occasionally DNAs for Mutations will also be released in this shop. All of the available dyes do not usually appear in a single restock, so the specific dyes in each restock will vary.
Out Of Shop Dyes
Non-shop dyes are limited release dyes that cannot be purchased in the regular Dye Shop. Non-shop dyes are available in user shops, auctions, trades, Leaf Exchange, CWP Shop, Forum Goblins, Mining, Nicola the Genius, and RKP (Raccoon King's Shop). Currently, OOS dyes found via forum goblins, mining, Nicola, and the Raccoon King are available in unlimited quantities and do not seem to rotate. Dyes found in the Leaf Exchange and CWP Shop may rotate. They are also often referred to as "OOS" dyes, which stands for "out of shop", referring to the fact that they cannot be found in the Dye Shop.
Forum Goblin Dyes
The following OOS dyes are available randomly from the Forum Goblins.
Mining Cave Dyes
The following OOS dyes are available randomly from Mining. Each dye is found in a specific cave: Chain is found in the Glowworm Cave, while Liquid Flow and Orcish are found in the Sparkling Grotto.
Nicola Dyes
The following OOS dyes are available from Nicola the Genius after turning in certain items in specific quantities. The items Nicola requires are found while Mining. The dye received is random until you have completed the quest three times.
Raccoon King Dyes
The following OOS dyes are available to purchase for 825 RKP, which are obtained by trading in unwanted items at a rate of one item = one RKP, from the Raccoon King Shop after completing the Raccoon King Plot.
Mystery Dye
The Dye Mystery is the Mystery Token of the dye world. When purchased it will turn into any of the dyes below. It is available in the Dye Shop, stocked infinitely at 6 CWP. Any changes made to the dyes available via the Mystery dye should be announced in the news.
Token Markings
The following OOS dyes are also available as markings during custom creation.
Markings Pear
A Markings Pear adds a random marking of a random color to your Waja, varying at strengths between 50% and 100%. Markings Pears are available for purchase in the Leaf Exchange for 50 Leaf Points. Not all markings are available through Markings Pears. Dye markings available through Markings Pears are listed below, but a full list of all markings available may be found on the Markings Pear page.
