The different types of wajas are referred to as breeds.  These include Normals, Aerials, Imps, Fires, etc.  The wajas breed affects how it will look both in general shape and how markings appear on it, as they vary somewhat from breed to breed.  No one breed is universally better in any way than another, but most people do have preferences.  The other thing that breed affects is a waja's breed dominance.  This will affect the likelihood of which breed the pups will be when they have parents of two different breeds.

Markings are the patterns that appear on the waja's coat.  There are many, but some examples are Wind, Dalmatian, Toes, and Peppermint.  The markings appear in a "layered" fashion on the waja.  Those at the top of the waja's marking list appear closer to the base of the waja.  Those at the bottom of the waja's marking list appear closer to the top and are usually more visible because of this.  Markings are also affected by their opacity which can be between 1 and 100, but only appears naturally in increments of 10.  The lower the number, the less visible the marking will be.

The colors on wajas are determined by Hex Codes, which are numbers 0-9 and letters A-F.  0 is the darkest and F is the lightest.  Hex code colors don't always mix like we're used to colors mixing, ie blue and yellow don't usually make green, but rather a grey color.  This throws a lot of new players off.

Generation
Every Waja in the game has a generation. To describe a Waja's generation, the word generation is usually abbreviated "Gen." A Waja that was custom-made through using a token is a generation 1 Waja. A Gen 1 is the only type of Waja that has no parents, so all other Wajas are either directly or indirectly descendant from generation 1 Wajas.

A Wajas' generation is always one higher than the generation of the parent with the higher generation. For example, the offspring of a Gen 1 Waja and another Gen 1 Waja will be a Gen 2 Waja. However, the offspring of a Gen 1 Waja and a Gen 2 Waja will be a Gen 3 Waja.

While generation does not affect the appearance of Wajas, custom wajas (generation 1) are the most expensive of all Wajas because of the cost of creating a custom Waja. Usually, Gen 2 pups born from two Gen 1 parents are more expensive than later generation Wajas. In general, Wajas with lower generations are considered more valuable.

Many players choose to only buy Wajas that are below a certain generation. Other players, however, consider generation only a number.

A waja's generation really has no actual effect on the waja itself, but can have an effect on what people are willing to pay for the waja.  This word is frequently abbreviated to "Gen".  Generations 1-3 are often considered the most valuable, but not everyone cares about a waja's generation. Pups will always have the highest possible gen from the pairing (so a gen 2 and a gen 242 will have gen 243 pups).

Age
The age of a Waja is measured in days. These days in a Wajas age correspond to real days, so it takes 5 real days for a Waja to grow 5 days older.

When a Waja is born, its age begins at 1 day. Until it reaches 5 days old, the Waja is considered a pup, and you cannot see any of the colors, markings or mutations on the Waja. When the Waja reaches 5 days old, it is considered an adolescent or teen, and you can see the base color and eye color of the Waja. At 12 days old, the Waja is considered an adult, and you can see the final Waja image and all colors, markings, and mutations on the Waja. However, the Waja cannot breed until it reaches 20 days of age.

The items Black Candy and Age Pear increase a Waja's age. A Black Candy adds 1 day to the age while an Age Pear adds 20 days to a Waja's age.

Wajas have three stages of growth.  The first is a a baby picture, which is identical for every waja of its breed.  The second adolescent or teen image shows the waja's correct base color.  The third is the adult stage, which shows the waja's full and finalised adult form. Wajas, pronounced Wah-has, is a virtual petsite created by Estuko (currently called Apollo) in 2006, that gets its name from the Cherokee word for "wolf". Wajas evolved into its own site from adoptables which Estuko has been selling on a horse sim that became extremely popular. Wajas is a breeding simulation that centers a variety of different wolf-like species, called Wajas, that can have different markings and mutations in any color. There are 14 unique breeds (15 if Breedless is counted) and over 90 markings and mutations!

The Wajas Creatures

The pets on Wajas are called Wajas and come in a variety of different breeds such as Normal, Water, Divine, and Aerial. In general, Normals are the most common of all wajas and Divines are the rarest as a result of the the breed dominance order and the rarity of custom tokens.

Breeds

Main article: Breeds

The different types of wajas are referred to as breeds. These include Normals, Aerials, Imps, Fires, etc. The wajas breed affects how it will look both in general shape and how markings appear on it, as they vary somewhat from breed to breed. No one breed is universally better in any way than another, but most people do have preferences. The other thing that breed affects is a waja's breed dominance. This will affect the likelihood of which breed the pups will be when they have parents of two different breeds.

Markings

Main article: Markings

Markings are the patterns that appear on the waja's coat. There are many, but some examples are Wind, Dalmatian, Toes, and Peppermint. The markings appear in a "layered" fashion on the waja. Those at the top of the waja's marking list appear closer to the base of the waja. Those at the bottom of the waja's marking list appear closer to the top and are usually more visible because of this. Markings are also affected by their opacity which can be between 1 and 100, but only appears naturally in increments of 10. The lower the number, the less visible the marking will be.

Mutations

Main article: Mutations

Mutations are physical features added on to a waja's body. Some examples are gills, bird wings, bat wings, and unicorn horns. All mutations, when applied, can have a color chosen for them, but not all mutations will show their set color. These have no effect on the waja, aside from its appearance.

Colors

Main article: Colors

The colors on wajas are determined by Hex Codes, which are numbers 0-9 and letters A-F. 0 is the darkest and F is the lightest. Hex code colors don't always mix like we're used to colors mixing, ie blue and yellow don't usually make green, but rather a grey color. This throws a lot of new players off.

Generation

Main article: Generation

A waja's generation really has no actual effect on the waja itself, but can have an effect on what people are willing to pay for the waja. This word is frequently abbreviated to "Gen". Generations 1-3 are often considered the most valuable, but not everyone cares about a waja's generation. Pups will always have the highest possible gen from the pairing (so a gen 2 and a gen 242 will have gen 243 pups).

Age

Main article: Life Cycle of a Waja

Wajas have three stages of growth. The first is a a baby picture, which is identical for every waja of its breed. The second adolescent or teen image shows the waja's correct base color. The third is the adult stage, which shows the waja's full and finalised adult form. Sometimes you must manually refresh your waja's picture to see it correctly, which you do by going to the waja's page, clicking its image, and then using the F5 key to refresh the page.
